In Japan, strawberries are white inside! And apples are blue?

Last night before she went to bed, Yuko asked about my happyou (presentation), so I showed her the printed out version of it that I'm trying to memorize. She read it all and made corrections for me! Ahh arigatou gozaimasu!

It rained today. In Japan, when it rains, it rains the whole freaking day. So taihen. But at least it was fairly warm!

On the train, I read more of my manga. I was cracking up because the heroine of this story (I'm on the third of the seven love stories) is the typical dumbass manga heroine and she got her bangs stuck in the door of the train while standing next to her childhood friend/crush!

When I got to school, I told everyone about it and they all laughed.

We had Mutsukawa sensei for class today. We were practicing comparing people, like:

"Who do you think is smarter, a person who wears glasses, or a person who doesn't?"

So we had to ask our partner questions like these. I asked Chris:

"Which do you prefer, a pretty but dumb girl, or an ugly but smart girl?"

Mutsukawa sensei heard and copied me, asking Fu "Which do you prefer, a hot guy who's poor, or an ugly guy who's rich?"

Haha. She couldn't decide, so he asked me. He was really surprised when I said an ugly guy who's rich, haha.

Also, this week we've been practicing chapter 10 kanji, and one of the words we've been practicing is 毛糸 (Keito)!!! It's so awesome! I've been making a big deal out of how it's my name haha. And whenever were practicing with Kondo sensei, she always looks at me and chuckles when we do 毛糸.

After class, at lunch, I decided to get today's lunch special. It was so much food, but I managed to eat it all! 

The main dish was a croquette. It was sooo good and had this super oishii sauce on top!

I saw Ben got a bear sticker on his bread so I asked if I could have it. But Heather was also at the table and Ben didn't want her mad at him I guess, idk, so he didn't give it to either of us. You know what he did?

He ripped it in two and gave one half to Rana and the two of them ate a half each! Like wtf? What a waste of a perfectly good bear sticker!

Also, at lunch I filled everyone in on the rest of the story in my manga (I'd read more of it during our break in class). The childhood friend guy had taken the opportunity to get close to the girl and "pretend they were a couple" so people wouldn't realize her hair was stuck in the train door, haha. We all laughed about how this is so cheesy and such a stereotypical shojo manga!

I had people coming over to me later in the day and seeing me reading the manga and being all "is that the manga where the girl gets her hair stuck in the train door?" Hahaha.

After lunch, I went to the Japan Plaza to practice my happyou with the girl there. She was really nice but didn't really pay attention, so she didn't tell me when I left out some minor things. But I studied it more on my own and then gave it to her again, and this time I said it perfectly!

So I went up to a computer and practiced it by myself along with my PowerPoint, and then I felt a lot better about it.

Folklore was super boring, especially because I didn't watch the movie. The wifi wasn't working last night, so I hadn't been able to download it. Ah well I wouldn't have watched it anyway what with all the birthday festivities.

After class was finally over, I went to Lawson's with Esteban and he got me another bunny sticker, yay! We ate our melon pan there and then rode the train home. 

Yuko and Ken were already home. Miya was at Kumon, but Ken went to pick her up after a bit. Yuko told me all about how she wanted me to come to this meetup with a friend of hers and other ryuugakusei (foreign students) the day after I get back from Japan. It sounded so fun!! And she talked and talked about it and I understood everything she said! Yes!

I'm glad I bought the early Shinkansen ticket or else I'd be mecha (hella) tired!

For dinner we had cabbage, eggplant, and meat with rice and soup. Mmmmm! Then Yuko brought out the cake again. Yuuussss! She finished it off tonight by cutting us each a huge hunk, double the size of yesterday's! I got the biggest one! I think because last night I'd gotten the smallest. 

In Japan, the strawberries are white inside! I told everyone how in America, strawberries are red inside and everyone thought that was awesome!! I said strawberries that aren't red inside usually aren't sweet, but they are here. So weird!

Then I found a picture online and showed everyone.

Miyabi was doing kanji homework and I was telling her all the ones I knew and which ones I didn't. The funny thing is I know a lot of kanji Miya doesn't. Like a lot of the time when I'm writing, I'll write kanji she doesn't know and she'll ask me what it says. 

But she's way more advanced in every other area... :/

Anyway, I saw the kanji for aoi (blue). The sentence said "aoi ringo," which is literally translated as "blue apple," so I was really comfused. Miya explained it to me. It turns out "aoi ringo" is what Japanese say for "green apple." Whaaat? Why isn't it "midori apple"? Sooo weird!
